Speaking Upwords: Poets Have Their Way with Artists

On Sunday, April 25th at 4pm, local poets of color will read original work in response to “Artists Speaking for the Spirits,” the groundbreaking show featuring 40 mural-sized paintings by artists of African ancestry. Reading their poems are two WBAI radio program hosts, Louis Reyes Rivera of “Perspectives” and Faybiene Miranda of “Global Medicine Review.” Also reading are Madaha Kinsey-Lamb, founder of Mindbuilders Creative Arts Center, Will Halsey of The Moving Form and poets Velez Moore, Tioma Allison, Osagyefo, Numi Deeodee, Ghana Imani Hylton and others. It promises to be a fun and artfully intriguing afternoon and admission is free.

The venue is the ARTCURIAN Gallery at Arthur Bennett Hall in downtown Brooklyn. It’s at 22 Chapel Street near Jay St., between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. For info call 718-260-2909 or visit www.artcurian.org.
